Petition to change District Officer Election rules
Problem: Currently, only Leo Club Presidents are allowed to run for the District President and Vice President positions. However, many school-based Leo Clubs have officer roles based on seniority, and many club presidents are seniors who will graduate. Thus, the current rule unfairly restricts members from many school-based clubs from holding the District President and VP positions.
Goal: To change the rule to allow both Leo Club Presidents and Vice Presidents to run for the District President and Vice President positions
Steps
Create poll to send out to Leo Clubs to determine interest
Contact Lion Michael Chan and Lion Kevin Guess for advice & petition procedures
Possibilities: Start a pilot program, Change rule for multiple districts, new clause, etc.
District Officer Election
Secretary and Treasurer Candidates should also submit a bio to demonstrate interest to the Future Leo District President, since the President is tasked with choosing the Secretary and Treasurer
President and VP Candidate Bios due on Sunday, March 28 @11pm
What happens in case no President or VP candidates - check with Leo Advisors
Club members need to be registered in the MyLCI system to qualify for delegate vote calculation.

District Leadership Election
Dates
Election: Thursday, April 29, 7-8pm
Nomination Deadline: Sunday, March 28, 11 pm
Went over Leo District Constitution
We will vote for all 7 officers instead of just President & Vice President
President & VP (must be club presidents)
Secretary, Treasurer, & 3 board directors (any club officer)
Automatically make Leo club presidents (for next year) Leo District Board Members if they come to at least 1 Leo District mtg next Lion/Leo year (7/1/2021 - 6/30/2022).
District officers who are leaving: Angela, Sophie, Melanie, Amelia Wu.
Candidates who want to run for a district position, please submit:
bio -- state your achievements in your Leo club and/or Leo district
photo
Leo club endorsement
sponsor Lions club endorsement (if you are running for President or VP)
by Sunday, March 28, 11 pm
Election page will be added to the Leo District website.
Finalize Voting Guidelines (Next meeting)
Only active members who joined BEFORE 07/01/2020 qualify
10 club members = 1 vote for club
eg: if there were 25 members before 7/1, and there are no changes to the member count this year, the Leo club will have 3 votes – but if 5 of them left the club and 8 new members joined, there are only 20 eligible members, and the club will have 2 votes.
Update Lion MyLCI System - Club Advisors, Presidents, Secretaries
Please make sure all of your Leo club members are entered into the MyLCI system, and their JOIN DATE must reflect their original application date or somewhere close to that. Before or after 7/1 makes a difference.
All Leo members must have a signed application form. Parent’s signature on the 2nd page is very important.
How the voting will be conducted
Nina is still working with DG Fanny and the District's Constitution & Bylaw committee on the details. She will report back at the next mtg.
