Start of term of office: July 1, 2025
End of term of office: June 30, 2026
The following positions are open for nomination:
Leo District President
Leo District Vice President
Leo District Secretary
Leo District Treasurer
Leo District Membership Chairperson
Qualifications for office:
President/Vice President: Must have served as a Leo Club President for the majority of a term by the date of the election
All: Must be members in good standing (recorded on Lions Portal) of clubs in good standing
All: Must not reach one year of age greater than the limit during their term of office (for most clubs, which are type Alpha, this means not turning 19 years old before July 1, 2025).
The Leo District Council is comprised of all the above elected officers, as well as each Club President of a club in good standing, each serving as a Director of the Council. Each member of the Council has one vote on any decision of the Council. The Council is advised by Lions appointed to the Leo Chairperson Committee of the Lions District, who serve as non-voting Council members and Liaisons between the Leos and Lions.
The election shall be held in compliance with the Standard Leo District Constitution found in Chapter 22 of the Lions International Board Policy Manual. The following has been paraphrased from the official text:
Nominations of qualified candidates must be submitted by the deadline specified above. Nominations from the floor may only be made if no qualified candidate has submitted a prior nomination.
A candidate may be nominated for many positions but can only be elected for one position. As such, it is customary to hold the elections for President first, then Vice President, and so on, with each elected Leo being disqualified from all succeeding positions.
Election shall be held by ranked choice vote with a secret ballot. Voting may be done by unanimous voice vote if only one candidate is running.
Each Leos club in good standing is entitled to one (1) delegate per ten (10) registered members or major fraction thereof (rounded to the nearest 10). That number is listed below.
Not included as part of the official requirements, but the Lions District has made a goal that in order to consider the results of the Leo District Election valid, representatives from at least 50% + 1 of the active Leo clubs in the District must participate.
